Frequently asked questionsWho can apply for a checking account? Residents of Texas or Oklahoma, age 18 and above are eligible to apply for a checking account. Individuals ages 13 – 17 are eligible to open a Teen Checking account with a parent/guardian as joint on the account. What will I need to apply for this checking account? Two forms of valid ID are required: Driver’s License or State Issued ID or Passport. The second form of identification includes: Social Security Card, Birth Certificate, Voter Registration card, a credit or bank card, company ID, passport or Visa. Please contact your local banking center for additional details on forms of identification. How long will it take to open this account? It will take approximately 15-30 minutes to open your account. Can I get a debit card with my checking account? Yes. A debit card is available with all of our checking accounts. ChexSystems will be checked prior to the account opening. Debit cards are mailed to the account holder. How do I open an account? Accounts can be opened from the website by clicking here, or in person at one of our banking centers. Why should my child open a checking account? A checking account can help educate teens on good saving and spending habits while making them more familiar with banking in general. How can my child avoid the monthly maintenance fee? This fee is waived when the accountholder chooses eStatements. *Wireless provider fees may apply |
